Schedule File Converter
Open a schedule someone sent you without the software that made it, turn it into a file your software or a spreadsheet can use, and see what changed on the way.

The schedule arrives in the wrong format
An owner runs Primavera and the contractor runs Project. A subcontractor sends an XER to someone with no scheduling software at all. The free converters online want the file uploaded to their server, which is not something to do with a bid schedule or a contract program. This tool reads the file in your browser, shows it, and writes it out again, and the file never leaves your computer.
Three ways out
A Microsoft Project XML file, the exchange format nearly every scheduling tool opens: Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 through its Microsoft Project import, ProjectLibre and others. A P6 schedule’s WBS becomes Project summary tasks, and each activity keeps its P6 ID in a column called Source ID. An Excel workbook with the activities, the relationships and the calendars on separate sheets, dates as real dates. And a CSV of the activities for anything else.
What does not carry across, before you download
No two scheduling tools model a schedule the same way, and a converter that hides that is a converter that quietly changes your dates. So the page lists, for this file, what is kept, what changes and what is not carried: P6 counts lags on one calendar and Project on another; P6 calendars can have ten-hour days and Project files here use eight; a level-of-effort activity has no equivalent; resources and costs are not read at all. Each line says whether it applies to your file.
The look-ahead
Pick a start date and a number of weeks, and the page lists the work under way, starting or finishing in that window, with the unfinished predecessors each activity is still waiting on. That is the list a weekly site or delivery meeting walks through, and it downloads as a spreadsheet.
What this does not do
It does not write Primavera’s own XER format: P6 checks imported XER files against internal fields this site cannot see, so the way into P6 is the Project XML import. It does not read Project’s .mpp files, which only Project can open; save them as XML first (File, Save As, XML Format). Resources, assignments and costs are not read, so they are not in the output.
